Resting Well

Hello bloggers, I had a client a while back who wanted me to research sources for unusual beds.
Her desire was to start with a "statement" bed and build an amazing guest suite around that focal point. Fun idea, but her budget nixxed us doing more than adapting an antique screen into a way beautiful headboard. The room is beautiful and the client is thrilled.

Along the way I reviewed these assorted beds and thought I might share them here before I purged the images. So tell me, if you were to pick a bed around which to create a retreat environment, which would you choose?

Aunty, that is the "sail bed". I think these are manufactured in Miami. Don't reckon they comes with theys own island but Aunty you can send away your favorite photograph and get it transformed into a floor to ceiling, wall to wall canvas mural. Won't smell like the ocean or provide salty breezes though.

Yep, I thunk the idea of the angel newel posts was a goodun. What better way to bless yore guests as they enter your domain? Or proudly state your Christian beliefs? I like it, I likes it a lot.

#4 or the next-to-last. Which is surprising because I wouldn't generally go for white, but it is the style that appeals. Having said that, the tree up top makes a statement indeed.
I wish you could help me figure out something for my windows!

Pam,
The white bed ( on the black rug) is a painted Rococo style and smashing in the correct environment and just ridiculous elsewhere. That second to last bed .... that one isn't painted, it is a true silver leaf finish !

On the windows,
make the exciting, unexpected choice.

wow. Wouldn't it be fun to sleep in all of these at least once? I love the white bed in the black and white room. Stunning.

(I'm loving these last few posts, btw.)

Boxer,
You have a great eye, that bed is very WOW in the correct application.

Glad you like these posts.
I've been toying with the idea of having a "designer blog" separate from my Fishy blog so thanks for the encouragement!

Happy New Year!

ahhhh.... great beds! i believe i would take the very first tree bed or the ultra modern bed! both actually, in diffeent houses in different parts of the world, which naturally means i could have a tropical bed as well..... just keep the cinderella bed and all the frilly ickyness away from me!
