Haiku Monday: TRIUMPHant Winner

Karl
has triumphed over all other entries
capturing
 us  with his bike tales.
There
was nothing to do but
award
 him bonus points for
entertainment

Kudos
to all entries.
Soooo many wonderful haiku
I would have struggled to
determine a  "best".

Karl,
I look forward to
next
Monday's game.

Nature
 is full of daily triumphs.
 And defeats.
This week our
 Haiku
 theme is focused on the
  triumphs
of   nature.
Our usual classic
 5-7-5 format  please.
This go around I will  award an  additional point to haiku which do include a seasonal reference ( kigo ) and two additional points to those including a cutting word (kireji) .

As always, I like visuals but they are not a requirement. All entries should be submitted by midnight PST on Monday, January 28, 2013. Good luck, offer as many haiku as your wish , please indicate only two for judging.

What a lovely theme, Fishy! I am going to have to view a bunch of photo cards...I can think of a few photos.

Serendipity.

Congratulations on the win.

Hi Fishy, here is my first one.

Strident peeping egg,
From a dog’s mouth; crushed! Now what?
Fluffy gosling lives!

Visual up.

Hi Fishy, Here is my second entry. This was amazing to watch. Hope you get some great entries. Such a great theme.

Broken-skull buck breeds –
despite open gap to brain.
Survives grim winter.

The visuals are posted at my alternite page: http://tidewrack.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=231&action=edit&message=6&postpost=v2

Serendipity!
Thanks for starting us off on an exciting note. Did you really save that bird from the dogs mouth?????!

Czar,
Thank you, looking forward to your contributions this week.

Aunty,
"Robust"... I just don't hear that word too often these days but I quite like it.

Pam!
So wonderful to hear from you!!!!!!
Triumphant return indeed :-)

PUTTING THE BABY TO BED

Active boy wiggles,
fighting the stillness; hold him
still, tight, loved. Sleep wins.

I'll be back! I promise. Working on it. :-)

Pam,
Sadly I will admit I am often thrilled when the babe who triumphs by sleeping is me!

Serendipity,
I love you fed this broken buck...
and shared his story with us.

Players,
do make the rounds to read the stories and see the visuals posted.
You will be glad you did.

Becca,
I love the triumph of babies! I recently observed a not yet two toddler apply every muscle group in her body and all her determination to climb up onto a heavy wooden dining chair. Once she scaled that obstacle, rotated her body, and took that seat... she was all proud smile. I remember thinking, " When was the last time I saw an adult strive that hard to achieve anything? When did I????"
Also ..... congratulate your little achiever for that great A+ !
Proud mama moments are all joy, no heartache!

Boxer,
Wonderful !
A treat to look forward to! xoxoxoxo!!!!!

Good evening Fishy,

First off like to say congratulations, wonderful turnout. Boxer and Pam, so nice to see you both.

This week I give you 3. A ballad of an uneasy rider. I hope you enjoy them. Daytona Beach, Bike Week 76 or 77. I can't remember for sure. I had smoked the oil pump on my Knucklehead. A friend of mine had broken his foot in the dirt drags. Racing street bikes in the sand, can be really hard on men and equipment.

Speed Week, a friend hurt.
Ride his Bonneville back home.
Backward piece of junk!

My bike, foot clutch, left.
His, hand clutch and shift on right
I survived speed week.

Was eight hundred miles.
Vibrating, wrong shift torture.
Please no more triumph!

Triumph

Winter field's blood smeared
Years yield Camino poppies.
Oh Iberia!

Will try to post visual at ether capacious afore the daidline.

Karl, I grew up on Triumphs and BSAs. My dad took my brother and I both together to school on them—-me on the back, my brother on the gas tank. No helmets, no goggles, no long pants, no nothing. It's how we rolled :o)

Karl said...

@ Serendipity: Yes it was built in 58. Long before the 72 DOT mandate that all shifters had to be on the left hand side of the bike.

@ Moi: When I lived on my grandfather's ranch, we used a motorcycle to herd cattle. We couldn't afford horses. Throw the rope, lay the bike down and hope you didn't land in a cowpaddy or miss the turn on the handlebars with the rope. Then to find yourself being towed by a steer face down in all that wonderful red Oklahoma clay. Yehaw

pamokc said...

Karl: Is being dragged through Oklahoma red clay the reason you are now drawn to the ocean? LOL

Pam: Well...you could say it had somthing to do with it. Along with the deep seated dislike for harvesting beans, okra, and mountain oysters.

Karl is just such a wildman. I have never known anyone who ROPED off a motorcycle! What a technique! LOL That's crazy. Chase them yeah, but rope and anchor with a bike?!? What about when they turned on you after you dumped the bike?

Yay Karl! I saw this one coming a mile out. well done!

Good evening Fishy,

Gee whiz, Thank you. I didn't think much of the quality of my presentation. More a joke. Maybe laughter is the best medicine. Thank you for hosting. I will try to post a topic tomorrow.

Serendipity: The credit goes to my grandfather, he taught me how to do it. (A tough man, who I loved alot.) I can't remember one ever turning to run at us. They always tried to pull away.

moi said...

Yay Karl! One day, you'll have to tell us more about your childhood.

Anonymous said...

Woot! Karl can really steal the spotlight sometimes. LOL. Congrats Karl. I think one of the first times I played, Aunty (maybe?) was hosting and the last line of his parachute haiku was something like "backwards beanfield slide". Remember that one? Stole the show.

Good evening Fishy, Howdy all,

This week's topic is "string".

Thank you all for the congratulations.

Moi: There are few people alive today, that no more about my childhood than you do. I've been telling you about it for years, in bits and pieces.

Fleurdeleo said...

Congrats, Karl! (Fishy, did you count all his syllables??) Just Kidding! Fabulous theme and really excellent entries! STring it is!

becca said...

congrats to Karl off to see what awaits for out theme

fishy said...

Fleur...
actually there were a lot of
mis-counts and there were a lot of far from nature interpretations on the theme and many many which had neither kigo or kireji or .....so I did in fact go with the entertainment vote because...This is suppose to add some fun to our Mondays so on this front Karl was the clear winner.
