Troll.
Oh if you only knew how badly I want a really fine heritage rocking horse sculpture! They got any rocking Gators in your territory?

Boxer,
They ARE beautiful to me. One of my dreams is to one day own a fine vintage British one of these, carved from some beautiful wood species and with a natural, not a polychromed, finish.

Fishy, rocking horses have a special place in my heart. And carousels. My grandma used to collect them, and some of my most treasured items. Happy MM.

Aunty Belle,
yep that dark wood horse sculpture on rockers is a fine piece of art.
I am figgurin from your comments I is getting too predictable cause you have shore honed in on the fact I like a bit of whimsey in my themes.
I 'spect I never will get beyond grieving for that lost horse. Truth is though, I had a passion for rocking horses for I ever did come to be owned by a horse.

Mebbe next round I will pull off a big surprise.

Kym,
I like your Granny! Any granny who can teach a child to experience the joy of a carousel or a rocking horse....well she rocks! So glad you enjoyed this posting. Happy Monday.

When I was a kid I had a big, plastic black and white horse rocker that had big springs on it for maximum bounce. That thing lasted as a hand-me-down through all of my brothers and sisters and we ended up giving it away. It wasn't as nice or artistic as the ones you posted, but it could take a beating. Thanks for the nice flashback.

Happy MM!

Lovely! I've always been fascinated by rocking horses and how they are so universally beloved – both as a toy and an art form. Very nicely done. Have a "rockin'" Mute Monday, Fishy!

Buzz,
Sounds like a fine childhood to me!
Also those horses with big springs were before manufacturers were onto the planned obsolescence protocols.
Sheeeesssshhhhhhhh ..... makes a person wonder just what future archeologists will find from our time.

Moi,
I put in some Western horses just for you! Glad you like the theme and oh how I respect those finely carved, expressive sculptures that will doubtlessly rock on for future generations. Have a great Monday.

Boxer,
Can you make a fine looking rocking horse in your plastics factory?

Belle,
I be a thinking about the predictability of my posts and dern it, afore I settled on the rocking horses I ruled out:
The Rockettes
Rock Around the Clock
Rock of Ages ( the musical )
See Rock City vintage signs
Geodes
Granite, Marble, & Travertine quarries
Famous giant diamonds
River Rock mosaics
Rock and Roll
AND
Classic Porch Rockers !
Shhhhhheeeesssssshhhhhh!

Heh..well fishy, I admit I has downloaded Rockettes--then dismissed it cause they's only so many times ya can look at legs in the air--tho the toy soldier line up was nifty. I rejected jewels thinkin' SOMEbody would do that...same fer Rocky Balboa--thought that would be too obvious. Never thunk up ROCK CITY--thas' a good one! An' I thought of rockin' chairs, but like the rockettes, thar's only so many rockers--the bentwood, the cracker barrel, the wicker. An' I never would thunk of Rock Around the Clock!!
