Holy Crap! Juan Valdez is only a year older than me. That was my initial reaction. Then I looked it up and 1959 is the origin date of the character. Whew! Nice take on the topic.
I'm up at the Buzzkill with a different kind of john (I hope there's no blogger jinx on this one).
AROMATHERAPY since 1960!!!! Love it! I'm fairly new to the coffee addiction but have caught on quick. I didn't know this much was going on with ol' Juan! Happy MM!
Well, if one has to be addicted to a Columbian cash crop, it should be coffee :o). Nice photo essay – very interesting! But what's up with the expression on Nicole "these brows move for no one" Kidman?
Buzz, Yep ol' Juan is one of advertising's most successful identities. In fact, "he" has a higher recognition factor than the Budweiser Clydesdales or the Gekko!
Troll, Yep, he's worldwide! Did you see his version of Air Force One? Do you suppose they call in JuanOne?
Pam, Happy MM. Funny thing about me is I really like the "aromatherapy" of coffee beans roasting but I do NOT drink coffee ... I am a tea person.
Aunty Belle, It was a toss up between this or John Deere! I ultimately chose this subject matter because I find a hot Latin male far more interesting than a tractor!
Moi, Great point! as usual. Interestingly enough the Juan Valdez Cafe's are owned by the Columbian Coffee Federation ... but they have gone with the logo and the identity of Juan Valdez because "he" is an international icon associated with premium Columbian coffees. They have one of the new Cafe's in Seattle if you go off to another summit..... doesn't say anything on the websites about doughnuts though.
Hey Kymical Girl, You don't do coffee? Me either but some of my siblings are serious coffee snobs! It will be interesting to see if Juan Valdez Cafe's do well enough in the USA to take on Dunkin Doughnuts and Starbucks!
Buzz.... yep, Conchita, but she does not look like a banana!
Chickory, given your blog identity I would be very surprised if you didn't like this posting! As for marrying .... would you choose the vintage Juan or the new Juan?

Anyone want to guess the name of Juans Mule? There have been several through the decades but they all have the same name :-)
