The 20-and 30-somethings at my work can't hold a conversation with people who are standing next to them either. And they never look up from their phones while walking. One day, I think I might put out some banana peels.
Texting (and cell phones in general) will be the downfall of civilization as we know it. I can't get through a family dinner without hearing the boy's cell repeatedly vibrate. brrrrr brrrrr Truth be told, the only texting I've ever done is in reply to texts that I received. I don't know how to initiate a text - and I like it that way. Anyway, that's a whole mess of text pictures you have there. Their not suppose to be texting in school but we all know otherwise. I'm expecting a text from the HS principal any day now.
Troll, I don't object to the convenience of text messaging. I do think our youth are not learning phonics and spelling thus I fear this trend will continue the literacy decline.

It is a new world out there. If the student does not have a cell phone, or has a plan which charges for text messaging services, they provide the cell phones. How can that be greener than paper?
I do use text messaging. All those times Blowfish was residing in the CCU, I could compose (1 )text message update and send it to all his kids simultaneously. That was enormously helpful for me. The regular updates destressed all the offspring who were fearing for their dad.
