Blogger junque is posted!There are sweaters I am ashamed to say I ever wore. Dresses I felt divine in and yes I know the dyed shoes to match the dress and the giant blue pearlized chiclet looking earrings are NOT cool but....once?
The white Greco-Roman thing with silver adornments was designed to compliment my Dolly Parton days to emphasize an actual waist and ginormous mammaries. Why was I ever proud? Ah well, looked great with the silver shoes and the rhinestone ear clips made from buttons.
There are the remains of electronics past and an entire series of fitness videos someone gave me unopened and they remain unopened. Do you think this was a hint to return to the Dolly days...or maybe to just reclaim my waistline?
This is a partial collection of bags of all types, although I will probably keep the "vintage" Vera Bradley which is older than Mermaid!
There is silver and turquoise jewelry from my MIL , lots of rings and cuff bracelets, abalone butterflys and REAL cuff links ...and that from just one closet. Coming soon....the press !
I would have SOOOO had that first sweater (top pic). In fact, am sure I had something similar. Also had a few of those video tapes from The Firm. Really good exercise videos as I recall. Fun post. One day I will get my junque pics up. But will have to dig past the boxes piled in front of the closet to do so!

That being said, that first white dress with the silver bag and heels is stunning! And the mother of pearl inlay butterfly pin as well. Is it Mexican? I have a pair of earrings from the Sixties in a similar style – my mom traded for them when we were down in Kino Beach one Christmas.

ReplyDeleteFunny thing is I didn't actually buy any of those sweaters, they were all gifts and I only remember wearing the red one once, the multi color white one never and the black one during the Christmas season for a few years. My big mystery is WHY do they still occupy space in my home? Same question applies to the electronics graveyard and those videos!

These funny peaks at our fellow bloggers has been amusing hasn't it? I don't know a thing about the jewelry ...there is a box of the stuff from my MIL's stash. The family folklore is she and my FIL made several trips to Arizona to visit post WW2 relocated relatives
in the 40's and 50's. As best I can tell, most have never been worn and have been in the stash box for low these many decades ... both butterfly pins were in their original boxes, as are other enameled jewelry sets and a pile of stuff that looks like mined stones in their natural state. I really should figure out something about this collection!
On the dresses....pictures looked poor but in truth the Oleg Cassini blue ball gown...bought 20 years ago for attending my nieces debutante ball...was a great gown and is on it's way, with the white one and a few others, to the costume department of the community theatre!
I think I have left some of these bought-for-special-events garments hanging around all these years because each represents a memory, or a person, I hold dear.

ReplyDeleteYep the theatre folks love to get the good stuff, specially if it comes with all the hats, gloves, scarves, shoes, bags and accessories to complete an ensemble. Community theatres are always cash strapped and often shop at the Charity retail outlets to find costuming on a budget. Thing is, you can dump your stuff off at the St. Vincents but if you donate to the theatre it has to dry cleaned first but the dry cleaning costs can count as part of the value of the donation.
Had me some fine memories in those gowns.
