Hope today was a terrific Tuesday.

Moi,
I loved the Blue Mosque as well as Topkapi and Haiga Sophia ... all of which have centuries old Iznik tiles as a main feature of their designs. You have a historical Iznik remnant????? Wow, I may be jealous. As for using your treasures ... well I believe you absolutely should.

One of my favorite "designer' quotes is attributed to Thomas Jefferson and is as follows:

" That which we chose
to surround ourselves with,
becomes the museum
of our own experiences".

So keep the treasures in your surrounds and not out of sight! Wow Moi, for the success of the run ;-)fishyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15169980377922293950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5115084514040536840.post-9197619270751981902009-08-04T15:02:45.602-04:002009-08-04T15:02:45.602-04:00How did I miss this? I also treasure a piece of 19th century Islamic tile I purchased back in college in an antique shop – not sure of the country of origin, but it's a beauty. I really shouldn't use it as a trivet. Very impressive to me, hope it was to the MM players.

Boxer,
Have you been to Turkey? To experience some of those incredibly vibrant architectural tiles , centuries after installation, is quite the experience.
I remember you saying once you believe energy flows thru hands ..... imagine the thrill of making the tiles for these architectural wonders!

Hey Troll,
how was the weekend wedding experience? Hope it wasn't jinxed. Happy MM.

Hi Pam,
The computer images do not do the Iznik justice. I think you can buy
current pieces online.

Kym,
Happy Monday and I agree, they are really gorgeous craftsmanship, really amazing intensity of color and very respectful of things botanical. I like this stuff a lot although I do not have any in my own home ... but i am thinking about that fishy platter!

Aunty Belle,
Thanks for the praise.
